Lifestyle Lists

Welcome to List Land

Born on December 25th, I have a Capricorn sun. My Cancer moon helps balance it out but my Virgo Rising sides with my sun sign when it comes to organization, structure, and…LISTS! Disclaimer: I promise this is not an astrology focused page, I have plenty to share about that elsewhere.

I have a love-love relationship with lists. Sometimes I put things on a daily list just for my ego and the free little hit of dopamine. Lists put my mind at ease. For me, they create order, making things feel less overwhelming. For some, this is quite the opposite, so of course, take what you need and leave the rest.

Lifestyle Lists is an ode to Lists themselves.

So often I find myself walking around with a million to-do’s and maybe-do’s and should-do’s clogging up my mind. While being busy and “productive” is praised in our Western culture, we are becoming increasingly aware that rest and times of stillness are equally as important.

That being said, creativity, striving to reach desire-lead goals, and doing activities that are in alignment with our outer purposes can be rewarding, fulfilling, and in fact the very reason Eclectic Purpose exists to begin with. Lists help turn our dreams into actionable reality.

I find lists encouraging, inspiring, and exciting. Sometimes I find it helpful to just brain dump, even if I never come back to the list itself. It helps organize my thoughts that are rarely organized otherwise.

One way I harness the power of overwhelm, and create space in my mind, is by getting thoughts out onto paper or into my notes app. Suddenly, instead of swirling madly through my brain, the items appear on paper, less intimidating and more manageable. I don’t have to remember them simultaneously any more and I can focus on one thing at a time.

For me, list making is the practice of creating space, making life manageable and attainable.

Obviously, lists may have the opposite effect on some. If you find lists daunting or have trouble organizing your own thoughts in a list sort of way, perhaps you enjoy looking over strategies and collections others have created for inspiration in order to take only what serves you.

I will be offering regular challenges here as well as lists I feel are relevant.
